United Symbols of America is a series of paintings that analyzes the contemporary American visual culture. Famous brands, president portraits, and patriotic quotes, among many others, are embedded images in mass media.
These paintings were meticulously painted in order to look graphic, as if they were designed in Photoshop and then screen-printed on canvas.
Their aesthetic values make references to Pop Art style of Andy Warhol and Jasper Johns, but also the Abstract Expressionist style of Jackson Pollock.
This mixture of styles intensifies the elements of Contemporary Art, in other words, Post-modernism.
